the Society Of Brown Ale Revivalists

Not much here yet, I'm afraid, except: For now, I suggest brown ale discussions take place on one or several of:
uk.rec.sheds
alt.beer
rec.food.drink.beer
uk.food+drink.real-ale

I'll look into setting up a mailing list. Might be fun.

Subjects for discussion will centre mainly (at first) on what's available, where, and if it's any good.

It seems to me that some Scotch ales can be considered as versions of brown. They share certain characteristics, such as the type of malt, or so I understand from an old homebrew book I have.
What about Mild, the northerner's nearest equivalent?
Many of the 'Strong Ales' are quite dark: but are they Brown?

Coming soon: glorious full colour pics of all the browns I can find!
